Characteristics of a counselor as a therapeutic
The most basic quality as a counselor is the ability to understand your behavior and reflect on how you would react to different situations that other people might be facing. That calls for regular self-evaluation for the betterment of skills and abilities in counseling relationships. In specific, counselors must possess self-identity about their abilities, and their potentials in realizing what they would want to be in the future. The effective therapist must have self-worth and able to forgive themselves when they go wrong and appreciate their work. They should be ready to assist and at other times appreciate being assisted. They should feel free interacting with other people and be willing to help them discover their abilities. An effective therapist also ought to be flexible and dynamic to adapt to changes. That helps the therapist to plan on the expected change and take initiative on achieving one's aspirations.
Effective therapists can orient their minds to real-life situations before making choices. They do not forget their primary objectives about themselves, and other people when they settled in their profession. However, if they find it worth to adjust to their prior decisions they do not regret making the revisions. In a nutshell, they go beyond existing and live to their fullest potential. Additionally, authenticity, sincerity, and honesty are virtues that always characterize an effective therapist. Consequently, there is a congruency between their personality and their profession. Last, yet importantly, effective therapists are exciting in the way they inter-twin different perspectives in their life and that of other people. Even when they contradict themselves they always find a reason to smile and make others laugh too.
