Research paper essay
A research paper essay is a piece of writing which is more or less of a composition, which follows a particular line of exploration. An essay on the other hand is a short piece of wring, which can cover diverse topics ranging from religion to political manifestos without indulging into details. A research paper essay is therefore a piece of writing which describes the details of a more complex academic work without showing its particulars.
To write a research paper essay you first make a choice about the topic that you are going to write. The attitude that you adopt about that topic is of much importance because it determines the kind of energy and enthusiasm, which you will use to research. Once you have chosen the topic you will be required to find whether there are research papers written about that topic. Select a subject that you can handle.
The next step when writing a research paper essay is to study. Read about your topic from other writers and published authors who have written about the same topic. Ensure that you have various sources of information such as periodicals, journals, magazines, books, newspapers and the internet. Then keep a list of all the sources, their name, the publisher, date of publication. This is your draft, or bibliography.
Having collected the information on the note card, develop an outline to organize ideas. An outline is a depiction of your major ideas and the chronology in which you are going to write them. You develop the outline by first writing down all the main ideas, then listing all the subordinate ideas behind the main ideas, after which you ensure that there is no repetition of ideas.
The research paper essay is usually made up of three parts, the introduction, the body and the conclusion. The introduction is usually the first paragraph of the paper. It often begins with a general statement about the topic and it ends up with a more specific statement of the main idea of your paper. The body of a research paper essay consists of several paragraphs in which ideas are developed into details, to make the body of the essay more coherent. Transition words are used to ensure smooth flow of ideas from one paragraph to another. The conclusion is the last paragraph of the essay and it summarizes the major argument of the writer.
The bibliography is another major component of a research paper essay. Bibliography is a list of the sources you use to get information for your report and it is included at the end of your report. It is easier to prepare the final bibliography if you keep track of each book, encyclopedia, or article, which you have used to get information for your research paper essay. When arranging the final bibliography, you list your sources, in alphabetical order by author’s last name.
Once you have your bibliography, set aside your draft for a day or two before revising. This makes it easier for you to see it more objectively with a refreshed mind. Revising your research paper essay means that you are rethinking the ideas, refining your arguments, reorganizing paragraphs, and rewording sentences.
After revising the draft, the other step is to proof read it. The process of proofreading a research paper essay involves looking out for spelling errors, grammatical errors. If possible, print out the draft rather than proofreading it on the computer because some of the mistakes are invisible on a computer. Once you have followed the above steps you have a full-fledged research paper essay, which is devoid of plagiarism and other writing malpractices.
