How I currently express (or don't express) my emotions
I express my emotions through writing what is in my mind without thinking or minding grammar errors. Whatever I write brings about my emotional health and I do not show it to anyone and I throw it away after I have finished writing. When I am angered I engage in physical exercise such as running ensuring that I do not hurt myself or anyone else. I express sadness through crying where I feel relieved after I finish crying. I express fear through sharing with a close friend that I know will support me and offer possible solutions to help me deal with the situation.
Some factors that influence my expression of emotions
Upbringing influences my expression of emotions where caregivers met my infant needs and I would feel that the environment is safe for me to live. I was able to develop emotional skills that helped me in my future relationships with other people. Society has shared values and beliefs that affect how I perceive and express my emotions. The rules in society guide me on how to understand emotions as well as interpret them. Expression of emotions differs between men and women due to gender norms that are based on culture and expectations. Family and friends influence the expression of my emotions through my parenting experiences and sharing that teach me how to manage my emotions.
Two ways I can improve on expressing or communicating my emotions?
Understanding emotions help to predict the way my emotions will be in the future to predict whether a given event will make me feel worse or better. When I predict my emotions in the future well, I shall make wiser decisions that will guarantee my happiness. Managing emotions will help me to handle difficult situations and frustrations that arise and I did not expect them. When my emotions are out of control, I can manage my temper and get the outcome that I desire.
