Internal Rewards, Textbook p.443-446
My nephew DB loves nothing more than working with children. He can forego anything just to be with children, helping with their homework, joining in their games among other things. He finds a lot of joy and satisfaction working with them.
Last month, he and I were supposed to attend a conference organized by one of the churches in the area. He had promised never to fail. We had agreed that I would pick him at their house. When I went to pick him up, I found that he and his friends had gone into one of the children’s home in the town. Apparently, his friends had organized an event that would last the whole day at the children’s home and had only involved DB in the last minute. When I called him on his cell phone, he was overly excited and I could hear children playing in the background. He gave me every excuse why he could not go with me to the conference. I had to eventually go without him.
