Dissimilarity Breeds Dislike, Textbook, p.413
My friend CK befriended one of the men they had been grouped with in one of the discussions. At the beginning, she liked and talked good things about this man. This was at the beginning of this year. However, several months later, CK’s attitude towards the man has changed. She has become indifferent towards him and speaks negatively about him. JF is the last man that CK would like to see. She just does not like him.
I tried to establish the reason for the sudden change of attitude and found that CK and JF share very little in common if any. CK hates men who consider women to less capable than men. She believes that women have equal abilities with men and should never be looked down upon. JF believes the exact opposite. He believes that women should accept that they were not cut out for certain tasks. His over possessive nature also pisses CK a lot. CK likes to do things independently and does not like someone who wants to control what she is doing. CK confesses that she simply cannot cope with JF and that he and she are like heaven and earth. They share nothing in common.
