Virus attacks can pose real problems to those who have adopted the use of technology. Be it individuals or corporate, viruses interfere with the use of computers to get work done. It can slow down work progress or even crash the system completely, thereby hindering any progress. (Cummings & Haag, 2013), while addressing the problem of computer viruses argue “that denial of service attack floods a server with so many requests for service that it slows down or crashes.
The slowing down of work progress or even crashing of the system portends not only a monetary problem but also an integrity one. Many a time clients will complain about delays. These delays in most cases are reported to have been caused by virus attacks. This implies losing the market. Sometimes people lose vital information, which has been corrupted by virus attacks. In this regard, business is lost. Addressing this problem, (Cummings & Haag, 2013) agree that computer viruses slow down or even damage the computer. They refer to two types, the benign type and the malicious type. They argue the benign just displays a message on the screen or slows down the computer. The malicious ones on the other hand “target specific applications or set of file types and corrupt or destroy them (Cummings & Haag, 2013).
Computer viruses attack with external storage devices that are infected, through networking or over the internet (Cummings & Haag, 2013). It is therefore advisable for users to be careful when using networks, the internet and external storage devices to guard themselves against virus attack. It is also advisable to purchase and install powerful antivirus software to guard one from attacks from computer viruses and its effects on the work.
