APA, or the American Psychological Association, at orderwriters.com is among the most common styles of writing used today in academic papers especially in the social sciences. This essay captures the major parts and rules of papers in APA style. APA is a writing style that can be used in students’ papers, reports, and any other professional documents that were created after the fourth edition of APA publication manual was published.
First, APA style papers must include four major sections: The specific section involved Title Page, Abstract, Main Body, and References. The title page includes both the title of the paper and the author and their institution. The title page includes a title in all capitals, the author’s name, affiliation, date of submission, and an abstract that is no more than 200 words for the article, review, or letter to the editor format. In the case of an article, a keyword section follows the abstract. A running head, basically a shortened version of the title, is used and accompanied by a page number in all subsequent pages.
Finally, the abstract that repeats the paper’s main ideas is placed at the top of the second page. It should be between 150-250 words and mention the research topic, the methods used, the findings and the recommendations.
In the main body, APA format also stresses on the simplicity and the succinctness. They refer to the means of sectioning off content and helping the reader navigate the sections of the paper. The first section gives a background to the study and outlines the research question and aims of the study. Other parts of the paper like the literature review, the methods used in the study, the findings, and the conclusion also follow one after the other.
APA style requires in-text citation to inform readers where certain information is from. References are done by putting the author’s last name and the year of publication as (Author, year). Regarding the direct quotes the number of the page is given, e. g., (Author, Year, p. X).
The hanging indent of the references section identify every source which was used in the paper. Submissions are arranged in the author’s last name first, and a distinctive structure of text citation depends on the type of the source. For instance, book citation involves the author’s name, year of publication, title of the book, and the publisher, while the citation of an article in journal involves author’s name, the year of the publication, title of the article, title of the journal, volume and number of the journal, and the page numbers.
APA style also offers business on how writing mechanics should be done. Submissions should be typed, double spaced with 1-inch margins and justified, in a clear font, such as 12-point Times New Roman. The use of active voice is recommended, and free from bias is the languages, meaning the avoidance of language that would offend or exclude any group of people.
Tables and figures are means of presenting data in a compact form and should be located close to the description. Tables and figures must be labeled and should have an identifying number; the title of the table or figure should also be included. A note may be added to clear any abbreviations or any other information that may have been left out.
Finally, when using APA style, one must be very particular about detailing and citations to warrant accuracy. Adhering to these guidelines enables authors to develop concisely written, easily understandable papers; in this way, authors can ensure that the results of their research can be communicated easily and clearly.
