Learning Outcomes

Throughout the session, I was able to learn dissertation format and process, the process requirements and what should be considered during the process. I was able to understand that the mentor, committee, chair and I need to work together through mutual commitment and interest for my own success. The session made me understand the role of the key player during the dissertation process and on how to design my dissertation research schedule.

The difficulties I faced and the assistance provided by the lecturer was a motivating factor during the session. My dissertation mentor engaged with me in reflective and repeated exercise that enabled me realize improvement in the concepts (Winters,2013).The session made me understand the role of the lectures in contributing to research and ensuring maintenance of standards and procedures (Lilley and Talbot, 2014). I was able to learn how to design the dissertation outline and gain knowledge on what should be included within the outline. The session instilled in me skills on dissertation methodologies and data collection and processes.

As a lecturer, the session instilled in me skills that will enable me prepare my future class for dissertation and effectively take students through the process, applying what I have learnt (Greater China, 2012). I will be able to apply experimental cases in the class and project based learning development in research mind-set, continuing what I have learnt to a conversation process in the classroom (Janesick and Slotnick, 2011). Bearing in mind the possible challenges that can be faced through the dissertation process, I will be able to offer leap to avert such challenges. In addition, I will play the middle person role linking the student and the institution, ensuring accountability and high standards.
