Study on loneliness
Purpose: Purpose of the study is to investigate the distribution of loneliness in America along with the geographical, social and economic groups.
Research question: are high-risk groups such as people who recently divorced, lost their spouses, or close family members, the physically challenged, unemployed, or terminally ill more likely to experience loneliness than low-risk groups?
Hypothesis: High-risk groups and individuals such as those who recently divorced, lost their spouses, or close family members, the physically challenged, unemployed, or terminally ill are more likely to experience loneliness than the low-risk groups.
Implication: The results of this study will help inform the caregivers, healthcare officials, and relatives to better intervene on individuals experiencing loneliness before it advances to major depressive disorders.
Study on effective treatment of the major depressive disorder
Purpose: the purpose of this study is to investigate why it is difficult to treat major depressive disorder despite the several decades of research that have advanced the management of the disorder.
Research question: Is depression partly attributed to hereditary factors, which may be the leading cause of the difficulties in treating the condition despite all the effective intervention on the environment and social factors such as loneliness?
Hypothesis: Genetic factors contribute to the inadequacy in treating major depressive disorders making it hard also to prevent the condition.
Implication: The result of the study will help clinicians in making a better intervention in treating major depression disorders by factoring in the background of the high-risk groups as one way of preventing depression and also inventing genetically-based treating for people living with major depressive disorders.
