I regard community colleges as institutions in a local setting that provide education. The community colleges provide classes to adults that help in enhancing their numeral skills, literacy and enable them to engage in other extra-curricular activities. The courses in the community colleges are designed for personal development. Such courses cover a variety of topics ranging from arts to business and mechanics to lifestyle. The courses can be provided full-time, in the evening or during the weekends to ensure the adults who may want to enroll have a flexible timetable.
Community colleges should be in a position to train students in preparation for four years in college and focus on the training of the students. It is therefore necessary to prepare for college through community colleges because it gives the student time to venture many areas of study. I find this necessary as it helps students narrow in on choosing a course in college that they are fully aware of its contents.
In my opinion, community colleges are ideal for providing training to students because they have competent and qualified trainers. Many accomplished trainers take part-time classes at community colleges in pursuit of personal goals that may include career growth and others may do it as a vocation. For those who are right out of their masters program they find a landing ground where they are welcome to train.
In addition, Community colleges assist the students who want to transition to colleges for their four year courses by introducing them to a simulated lecture room setting. The students have smaller classes where they have easier access to trainers and the trainers guide them accordingly. The students can also handle assignments at a standard level. This environment also assists them in socialization and minimizes culture shock when the students eventually join colleges.
