Learning Outcome on Human Resources Management

Human Resources Management is a broad subject that is concerned with the labor force of an organization. Throughout the course, the classes inspired me. The overall support from the lecturers provided a base for me to pursue further study into the subject of human resources, and particularly the quality of life at the workplace.
Human Resource Management (HRM) in general refers to the coordination of the activities and employees whose contribution steers the organization towards achieving its objectives (G, Hofstede et al. 2010). Part of HRM involves employing measures that help manage the different aspects of human resources (Cascio, W., 2013). These aspects include employee attitudes towards their work, Absenteeism from work, work-life balance and trainings.
I have come to understand that developing policies and programs at the workplace help employees understand the expected preventing misunderstandings (Nankervis et al, 2010).
I have learnt to apply some of these lessons in my life in school and at the workplace. For instance, effective communications skills stood out for me as vital in any place where I am dealing with human beings (Armstrong, M. 2010). Furthermore, I have come to understand that having written agreements and policies helps employees to adhere to the laws such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) as they have to submit written proof (MJ Stevens, MA Campion 2010).
