I regard the desire for the transition from authoritarianism and command markets to free economies to have led to the restructuring of the region and the ethnic communities. The collapse of the Soviet Union was therefore because of the ethnic hostilities in the area that made it difficult to coordinate the interdependence of the regions that existed before. New states were formed based on the ethnic differences and discrimination among groups. In my opinion, the regional continuation of conflicts is because of the conflict boundaries of the ethnic groups in the region. The re-unification of ethnic groups that had separation earlier and the redefining of boundaries that earlier had disruptions caused the push for the limits.

It is important to note that the matter worsens by the fact that the states engage full military force not only on other military forces but also on civilians.
Factors that Serve to Unify or Separate the States in this Region
As the expert on Russian conflict Mr. Michael McFaul argues, the conflict in the states in the Caucasian region requires sober approach and honest intervention by an independent mediator without interest in the area. Increasing invasion by states within the region only leads to more conflicts and revolt among the states as seen in the case of Russia and Georgia. The states have to respect the independence of others and respect such boundaries that exist with a reverted mind on interests to control the region. In my view if Russia still has the feeling of invading the jurisdiction of other states to show might in the area, then the world is yet to experience more conflict. Independent entities need to intervene in the Caucasian conflict to ensure sobriety within the states and end to dictatorial regimes.
How Russia's Involvement in the Region Evolved (and to what purpose) since the 1990s
Russia participation in the region has to evolve over the years since 1990 and as the region systems failed from the dictatorial regime, the independence of other countries has existence though loosely. I say loosely because Russia still makes effort to control the systems of independent states just the same way as its involvement in Georgia through military invasion. We can agree that the Russian state has an issue with the Georgian government just as Mr. McFaul argues, as he analyses that the country has a problem with the president. We can give an argument that Russia still has the interest to control the region’s states with their regimes to assert supremacy and regional power.
