The course brought about a general change in my thoughts in understanding the role of knowledge improvement and management in response to the rapidly changing business environment. The program also explicitly explored the integral role information availability and its purpose for the employees and companies improving the quality of the processes.
The course brought about the view of the difference in the past and present corporations and the changes seen and which should be expected in this century. It brought about different facets that a manager and the company as a whole need to engage in order to reduce workforce turnover and improve organizational competencies. It made me understand the varied strategies that can be applied by companies and employers to improve the quality and encourage flexibility among employees. Strategy such as ROWE helps a company as well to save the cost of working place while at the same time improving employee quality value of work as explained by Dodgson and Philips (2013). Human resource strategies of balancing work and life was also a part that attracted my interest in the course.
By undertaking the program, I was able to gain deep understanding of the characteristics of the emerging business environment. At the same time gaining knowledge of the new forms that are coming up in the current business environment. This knowledge helped me visualize how these changes will get to define the business environment in the 21st Century.
As a lecturer, this knowledge has brought a complete oversight of the field raising the level at which I will be able to apply the concepts in class context with clarity to studentsaccording to Hubbs and Brand (2010). I will be able to detail every aspect of human resource and the roles they can play in the 21st century to improve the core competencies in relation to modern trends at workplaces and the environment.
