Improving Quality of Performance Measures
Managers can improve quality performance measures of an organization through training of employees at their workplace. Workplace training of employees ensures that they are adequately performing as per the expectations and requirements along the established standards. The performances should be in a timely manner meeting the client expectations safely and in the most cost-effective, less risky way. Companies and managers invest in training for productivity and quality of the workforce while at the same time reducing employee turnover.
Managers should plan strategies that are relevant in improving quality of performance to bring measurable changes in knowledge, skills, attitudes and behavior. To achieve the purpose of training, there should be procedures set within the training program. The managers should be able to ensure that the employee is motivated. Motivation serves the same purpose as the cognitive ability in achieving the outcome of training. Managers should offer support to employees and provide a conducive environment for them to perform.
Behavior modeling effect is another principle that can be employed by managers in improving performance quality. A manager should provide an exemplary path and serve as a role model, to lead the employees to the desirable outcome. As a person who is competent and powerful, a manager should be friendly and allow people to identify with him to gain the desired and appropriate behavior in the organization. This can be applied when employees need to learn facts and procedures and to change their behavior at work.
Learning factual material enables employees to understand the materials they associate. To ensure employees understand how organization works through its various compartments, managers should present readily associable materials that lead to employees’ understanding of the processes. Employees should have opportunities to practice such skills. Managers should also institute feedback mechanisms to motivate the employee and to encourage the learning process. This gives the employee to continue learning what constitutes improved or poor performance. They should ensure positive transfer of training if the benefits of the training are to be achieved. The employees should be able to work together as a team towards a shared goal or interest of the organization (Cascio, 2013).
