Indonesia: Tourist Invasion
Indonesia is considered a new economy and the country has a way to go in maintaining its economy and ensuring performance. The country has sectors it depends on for the boost to its economy and tourism being one of them. Bali, which is featured in the video under review, is an island in the archipelago of Indonesia that acts as a tourism attraction point within the realm. Because of the economic benefits that tourism brings to Indonesia, the government is supporting the sector and hence the island as a major tourists attraction point. Within the island, tourism development provides training and employment for the natives and foreign earning.
With the development of the resort areas on the island that attracts tourists to visit the place, job opportunities are availed for the residents. The geographic content the video covered includes the island with its attraction tourism areas, depicting the old areas with overcrowding and overdevelopment because of the people and the increased income. The place experiences cultural dislocation and the damage to the environment with the rampant results of tourism activity. The part of overcrowding of the area caught my attention, as it was exciting that the area could attract more tourists and accommodate many people who flock the area and give them employment opportunities.
The most interesting part of the video is the focus on the shift from subsistence economy through the meeting of needs of foreigners who the residents depend on. With the government encouraging tourism, there is need to focus on balancing the population with development to ensure that the island is not disrupted. There are transformations that come with the advancements in an area, and tourism in this case and with the influx of tourists in the island, the video comes alive implying the invasion of tourists to the islands.
