My textbook mentions Generations United as a way for different generations to cooperate rather than compete against each other. After visiting Generations United’s website, I have learned the services and ideas that I can use in my future jobs.
There is a need to value and engage all generations by first acknowledging that the current workforce comprises of different generations ranging from the old, young, and their children. These generations need one another in building a common agenda while providing unique skills and talents to the workforce. As a future administrator, I shall use intergenerational collaboration to unite and improve my organization to enhance economic growth and value creation. I shall ensure every organizational policy I come up with satisfies the needs of all employees regardless of their generation. I have also understood that the maximum utility of available resources is only possible if the resources connect the different generations rather than separating the generations.
Every workforce is more effective if it comprises of different generations because statistics have shown that in every three Americans, two prefer to spend more time with individuals outside their generation. The strength of togetherness and unity in purpose is a statement I would always bring across to condemn generational differences. That would be regardless of what shapes the ideologies, motivations, communication preferences, and individual worldviews of each generation.
I would make use of intergenerational practices that are inclusive, accept generational differences, and rich in diversity. I would always remind myself that any form of discrimination poses a huge limitation to individual potentials to contribute positively to the development of any agency. In summary, as a future administrator, I shall raise awareness of the need to use intergenerational collaboration and solutions regardless of one’s race for the wellbeing of my organization.
