``college paper’’ is a common new term to newly admitted college students but what is really a college paper? A college paper can be defined as an investigative text or an essay which is composed for college course work. Most of the college course work require that the students present one or sometimes several such papers. The students will also be instructed that their papers follow certain guidelines and even be instructed on the field which their article is to come from. College instructors usually have very high expectation for college papers from their students and therefore they require that the student dedicate considerable time and effort in them. College papers are also expected to have original thought from the students. The transition from high school to college is not an easy task for most students especially when it comes to writing college papers. Contrary to most of the writing done in high school college papers are very different in three basic ways; the papers have to be deep in their analysis, the papers have to be of high quality and that students are expected to present only the final draft . A combination of this three requirements and pressure from the instructors makes writing of college papers not only challenging but also time consuming. In this paper we look into some common challenges and some possible strategies of overcoming them.
Common challenges in college paper writing.
Writing of college papers is an essential part of college studies and also learning process and therefore putting together a good paper requires one to devote his or her time and energy. These requirements are the main causes of most challenges. The challenges faced by students when putting down college papers of any type are numerous. Among these challenges `` three of them are more common than the others and their occurrence is frequent’’ and they form the basis of our discussion. The first challenge that is common to most students is lack of understanding the research question where the student does not clearly know what he or she is expected to write about.
The second most common challenge with most students is the problem in sentence structure. This problem results in the construction of incomplete sentences the cause of this problem is the lack of a subject or a verb in a sentence. Lastly the other most common problem in writing of college papers is the use of improper grammar. These challenges are often underestimated by most college students and this leads to their poor performance in their final exam.
Getting the best possible grades is usually the dream every student and therefore these challenges should not be the cause of poor grades? Well the following strategies will be useful in tackling these problems. The first strategy is identification of your particular problem and come up with a plan to solve it, setting completing of the paper to be your goal and finally planning of the essay structure. Finally it can be concluded that writing a good paper and obtaining good grades is possible.
