SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
PAPER INSTRUCTIONS
The student is required to write a 3-4 page research-based paper in current Turabian
format that focuses on the elements of Spiritual Awakening.
Use the following section headers to organize your paper:
PART I- Provide a detailed definition of the phrase “Spiritual Awakening.”
PART II- Select and describe one of the historical examples of spiritual awakening
listed below. Make sure to discuss the dates, key elements of the movement, primary
players involved and the evangelistic outcomes.
Options:
1. The Reformation
2. The Awakening in Great Britain (1700s)
3. The Great Awakening
4. The Second Great Awakening
5. The Revival of 1857-1859
6. The Welsh Revival (Early 1900s)
7. The Azusa Street Revival
*If you wish to explore another time of awakening in history, you must obtain
permission from the professor to do so.
PART III- Describe how dependence on the Holy Spirit is essential to the process of
personal and global awakening. Make sure to provide at least 2 biblical references
to support our content.
PART IV- D.L. Moody, after listening to a British revivalist, is credited with
saying, “The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to
him. By God’s help, I aim to be that man.” To conclude this course, write out a
prayer in which you consecrate yourself for personal awakening and evangelistic
impact.
BIBLIOGRAPHY – Note that you must have at least two supplementary source (in
addition to the course materials and the Bible) that are used in the development of
your paper. It is important to note that Wikipedia is NOT a credible source for
this paper.
