Learning Outcomes
Understanding organizational dynamics in a different context and organizational power and politics was the focus of the session. Every individual faces challenges in the institutions they work in, and the stresses related to those challenges dictate their performance in the organizations they work (Luthans, 2011). Learning how to develop personal coping strategies and embracing best practices ensure attainment of better performance and organizational effectiveness. Developing several coping strategies for individuals within organizations and matching such with their working domains provide efficiency and positive results for an organization. The knowledge I have achieved within the week has affected my thought process by instilling in me the knowledge of an approach to developing organizational coping strategies to work related stresses. I have developed extensive knowledge of the organizational politics and its concepts that apply to any organization setup.
I will use the knowledge I acquired during the session to help my group in relating best practices to performance and in taking measures that will ensure appropriate stress coping strategies within organizations. In my personal life, I will be able to know how to play organizational politics and apply power concepts as relevant (Luthans, 2011). I can confidently pass the knowledge to students explaining the contents of the study explicitly and help them realize the applicability of distinctions of organizational power and politics. The learning process was smooth with no challenge whatsoever, with an easy grasp of concepts and principles of the session. The book to be studied to support the learning process was available, and the discussion with peers bore fruit in helping to grasp the contents of the session. The learning during the session was highly efficient, organized in better ways to ensure that the students participated fully whenever possible.
