Integrated Project Management
Outsourced projects typically experience a conflict of interest as a matter of the multiple tasks and people involved. Integrated project management is useful in the scenario and would help prevent failure of rating a project above others (Cleland & Ireland, 2008). There are different phases of integrated project management model applicable in outsourced projects for success. The stages include awakening, implementing, professionalizing, enterprising, and integrating that help to achieve deliverables within a specified period. Outsourcing is a concept commonly used by organizations on time, delivering quality outputs at reduced costs.
The awakening phase is the first stage of an integrated project management that a firm can employ in creating an institutionalized project (Cleland& Ireland, (2008). In this phase, the involvement of leadership and support are critical so that the effect of the business is evaluated. The application of this concept on different projects of organizations has presented favorable results, improving the performance levels. For an organization to ensure project success, it must change its structure orientation to support project and foster towards the world standards. Companies through the project leaderships should then share experiences and best practices.
Through implementing, institutionalizing and enterprising phases, the final stage is integrating. In the integrating period, the assumption about the project success in an outsourcing environment, the varying environment of multiple parties has to be unified, focusing on the client needs. Every internal and external business activity of an organization is viewed as a project, and the components viewed as interrelated programs. The power of integrated project management sets expectations in line with group customers, leveraging suppliers to reduce the cycle, costs, improve delivery and quality on expectations (Levin, 2008). Ability to integrate project management is doing it well and in the fastest way possible, exceeding customer expectations.
