Cyber War and Cyber Defense
The world in the past had experienced wars and conflicts that ended up destabilizing people, society and governments with several suffering from the consequences while others lose their lives. Technology has advanced, and weapon development is in different forms, with some countries disagreeing with others on their efforts to develop advanced weapons like the current case of Iran. The country experienced a malware that hit their systems compromising the material that the country was producing for the development of a nuclear bomb, news that most of us must have heard. The malware compromised the whole process with the final release of the test weapons being thwarted by the malfunction of the computers as a process.
We realize that for a country that contemplates using cyber war, it must improve its technical and technological capacity to take into consideration the fears presented by the attack of a potential enemy. I feel that at the point that the United States uses cyber war, which is possible, the country must have proper security measures that ensure no enemy files access to its systems as that would present a severe crisis. As we read in chapter fourteen of the social problems by Henslin (2014), the US is as well a victim of these attacks and it has first to ensure its security before launching attack or response to enemies.
With the capability and the capacities of the United States, the country can surely take on cyber war, and I would only recommend the event that the country is sure of timely response to counter attacks. I believe that the country is not preparing the cyber-attacks to provoke other nations, but it is a preparation for a counter-response to enemy attacks or to thwart efforts by hostile nations to attack others. We expect the effort by the forces and experts to advance the cyber capacity to bear what would make the country outstand in any war.
